YWe’ve all experienced the effects of sunburn at some point in our lives, whether it was a little or severe burn. If you’ve found yourself spending a bit far too much sun exposure, here are four natural home treatments to help relieve the pain of sunburn and aid in the healing process.
Although the sting of regret from lack of protection (from UV exposure) might be a great motivator to prepare more carefully on ‘future’ occasions, it does nothing to alleviate the obvious physical sting (i.e. discomfort) of sunburn.
However, if you ‘have’ found yourself spending a bit far to much time in the sun, here are four natural home treatments to help relieve the pain of sunburn and aid in the healing process:
1. Cold Dairy Softens: Milk’s fats and lactic acids are believed to be soothing to burnt skin. Soak a delicate fabric or cotton sheet in cold whole milk and gently dab it on the burnt area. Do this for about 20 minutes before washing with cold water. (Because of the significance of the milk’s fat content, whole milk must be utilized in this therapy.)
2. Cool, sugarless tea: The tannin in tea is the essential element here, helping to relax and ease some of the agony associated with burnt skin. Slosh the afflicted areas with a smooth sponge or towel after boiling a large pot of tea and letting it to cool fully. As with vinegar (4), you may also fill a spray bottle with tea and spray it straight on your skin. Also, do not discard the used (cool) teabags. These are especially beneficial for sensitive eye regions; simply lay the sachets on your eyes if they feel hot and fatigued.
3. Aloe Vera: Aloe Vera is a popular sunburn treatment. It may also aid in the healing process in addition to offering relaxing comfort. As required, apply to the afflicted areas. Although the gel collected straight from an aloe Vera plant is preferable, if you don’t have easy access to one, you can buy a ‘over the counter’ Aloe Vera Cream that contains the gel. To make this work, make sure the cream has a higher concentration of Aloe Vera than water or other ingredients.
4. Water: Your body may loose water and necessary bodily salts while exposed to the sun. When your body lacks too much fluid, it begins to reabsorb fluid from the blood and other bodily tissues, resulting in dehydration. Increase your hydration levels to ensure you sufficiently rehydrate your body for maximum recovery and wellness to avoid the risks of dehydration.
Sunburn should, obviously, be avoided whenever possible, especially because it not only causes damage to the skin but also increases the risk of developing cancer. Avoidance and prevention are the best treatments for sunburn, and will help you maintain your best long-term health!
DISCLAIMER: The above-mentioned are merely home remedy suggestions and should never be used in place of your usual health care practitioner. If you have any concerns about your sunburn, then seek medical attention immediately.
